Suicide risk and learned suicide ability in people with mood disorders

Investigation on Suicide Risk Factors of Patients With Mood Disorders in China

Observational Tianjin Anding Hospital · NCT07523490

This project will try to identify which biological, psychological, social, and clinical factors relate to suicide risk and the learned ability for suicide in people aged 16–60 with mood disorders by collecting blood, urine, and questionnaire data.

What this trial studies

This observational study enrolls people aged 16–60 who meet ICD‑11 criteria for mood disorders at Tianjin Anding Hospital. Participants complete standardized scales (Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation, Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, HAMD, HAMA, PHQ‑9, GAD‑7 and functional measures) and provide blood and urine samples for molecular biomarker analysis. Investigators will analyze biological, psychological, social, and clinical data to identify factors tied to suicide risk and the formation of learned suicide ability and will develop a prediction model. No treatments are assigned; the aim is to produce a ranked list of risk factors and a validated predictive tool for learned suicide ability.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are people aged 16–60 who are receiving psychiatric care, meet ICD‑11 mood disorder criteria, are willing to cooperate, and can provide informed consent (guardian consent required for minors).

Not a fit: Patients with serious organic illnesses that prevent participation, those unable to understand or complete questionnaires, or people without a mood disorder are unlikely to benefit from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this work could help clinicians identify patients at higher risk of suicide earlier and tailor prevention efforts more effectively.

How similar studies have performed: Previous multi-dimensional studies have had some success identifying suicide risk markers and building predictive models, but prediction of 'learned suicide ability' is relatively novel and requires more validation.
