Registry of pediatric proton and photon radiation therapy
Pediatric Radiation Therapy Registry
This registry will collect detailed 3D radiation dose data and health outcomes from children and young adults treated with proton or photon therapy to see how treatment type relates to long-term side effects and quality of life.

What this trial studies
The Johns Hopkins Pediatric Radiation Oncology Program will enroll pediatric and young adult patients treated with proton or photon radiation at participating centers and record their full 3D radiation dosimetry. Baseline clinical data, disease characteristics, toxicity reports, and patient-reported quality of life measures will be captured and followed over time. The registry links spatial dose distributions to longitudinal health outcomes to enable future comparisons between proton and photon treatments. Collected data will support clinical quality management and research into treatment-related late effects.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Children and young adults up to 26 years old who receive proton or photon radiation at the participating Johns Hopkins sites are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: Patients older than 26, those not receiving radiation therapy, or those treated outside the participating centers would not benefit from enrolling.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the registry could help clinicians choose radiation approaches that reduce long-term toxicity and improve quality of life for young patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other pediatric radiation registries and long-term follow-up efforts exist, but few capture complete 3D dosimetry across both proton and photon therapies, so this approach is partly novel.
