What this trial studies

The Duke Lupus Registry collects information and blood samples from patients diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus or cutaneous lupus who are seen in the Duke Rheumatology clinics. This observational registry aims to track how lupus changes over time, with the goal of improving patient care and informing future research on various lupus-related outcomes. Patients will complete questionnaires and have their disease activity measured during regular clinic visits, without needing additional appointments. The data collected will help enhance treatment strategies and understand the broader implications of lupus.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus or cutaneous lupus who are receiving care from a rheumatologist at Duke University Medical Center.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to travel to Duke for follow-up visits or cannot provide informed consent may not benefit from this registry.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could lead to improved treatment strategies and better management of lupus for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other observational studies on lupus have shown success in improving patient outcomes and understanding the disease, indicating that this approach is supported by prior research.
