What this trial studies

This pilot study evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of a psychosocial intervention called Emotion and Symptom-focused Engagement for Caregivers (EASE-CG) aimed at reducing traumatic stress and psychological distress in primary caregivers of patients newly diagnosed with acute leukemia. The intervention is adapted from a previous program designed for patients and focuses on enhancing the well-being of caregivers. Participants will undergo quantitative assessments at multiple time points and may also participate in semi-structured interviews to provide qualitative insights into their experiences.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are primary or co-primary caregivers of patients newly diagnosed with acute leukemia within three months of hospital admission.

Not a fit: Patients who are not caregivers or those who do not meet the inclusion criteria will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the mental health and well-being of caregivers, leading to better support for patients with acute leukemia.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success with similar psychosocial interventions for patients with acute leukemia, indicating potential for caregiver-focused approaches.
