What this trial studies
This project implements and evaluates two dietary interventions aimed at encouraging healthy and sustainable eating behaviors among Flemish higher education students. Over eight weeks, the interventions will utilize nudges in student restaurants, social media campaigns, and workshops to promote healthier lifestyle choices during a critical transition period. Effectiveness will be assessed through questionnaires administered at baseline, post-intervention, and five months later, with control groups at other campuses for comparison. The initiative is part of a broader effort to combat unhealthy eating habits and obesity, which are significant risk factors for cancer.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy higher education students aged 18-24 who are willing to participate and provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Students who are not fluent in Dutch or are under 18 years old may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this project could lead to improved dietary habits and weight management among students, potentially reducing their risk of obesity and related health issues.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar dietary interventions aimed at promoting healthy eating behaviors among young adults, indicating a promising approach.
