What this trial studies
This intervention aims to address physical inactivity among low-resourced mothers in New York City, particularly those with children under 12 years old. The study employs a 3-arm parallel cluster randomized controlled trial design, where fitness class sites are randomized to provide different levels of support, including free fitness classes, childcare, and peer support activities. The effectiveness of the intervention will be assessed through various measures, including accelerometers and questionnaires, over a two-year period. Additionally, ethnographic methods will be utilized to explore how social inequalities impact women's experiences with physical activity.
