What this trial studies
This program aims to prevent and manage type 2 diabetes through the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT). It focuses on individuals with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, providing lifestyle interventions to reduce the risk of developing diabetes and improve health outcomes. The initiative also seeks to increase community access to these programs and enhance referrals to support individuals in making necessary lifestyle changes. The program is particularly relevant in areas with high rates of obesity and prediabetes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults diagnosed with prediabetes and elevated BMI, as well as individuals with type 2 diabetes seeking management support.
Not a fit: Patients who are normoglycemic or do not meet the criteria for prediabetes or type 2 diabetes may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes and improve overall health for individuals at risk.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown significant success with similar lifestyle intervention programs in delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes.
