What this trial studies

This observational study aims to estimate the prevalence of Pediatric Eating Disorders (PED) in children aged 12 months to 6 years 11 months who have Inherited Metabolic Diseases (IMD) and are undergoing dietary treatment. The study will utilize validated questionnaires, including the Montreal Children's Hospital feeding scale, to gather data on feeding difficulties and their impact on psychomotor and emotional development. By identifying the prevalence of PED in this population, the study seeks to enhance awareness and improve care for affected children. It will be conducted at the Necker-Enfants Malades hospital in Paris.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 12 months to 6 years 11 months diagnosed with an inherited metabolic disease who have undergone dietary diversification.

Not a fit: Patients with associated chronic diseases, diagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder, or those with multiple disabilities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved recognition and management of eating disorders in children with inherited metabolic diseases.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the prevalence of PED in IMDs, similar studies in other pediatric populations have shown the importance of addressing feeding disorders, suggesting potential for success.
