Prevalence and features of neuropathy in people with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia
Neuropathy in Waldenström's Macroglobulinemia: Pathophysiology, Prognosis and Treatment
This project will test whether questionnaires, clinical exams, nerve conduction tests, and blood/CSF markers can find and describe nerve damage in people with Waldenström's who have neuropathy.

What this trial studies
This is a cross-sectional observational project of a cohort of Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM) patients followed at Rigshospitalet. All identified WM patients were screened with a neuropathy questionnaire and those with probable symptoms will receive a neurological exam and nerve conduction study (ENG). Patients with WM-associated neuropathy will have blood tests including candidate biomarkers (for example neurofilament light chain) and lumbar puncture where indicated, with clinical classification of neuropathy subtypes. The cohort will be followed for three years to document clinical course and correlate paraclinical findings with outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults with a confirmed diagnosis of Waldenström's macroglobulinemia who report symptoms consistent with peripheral neuropathy and are followed at Rigshospitalet.
Not a fit: Patients with WM who have no signs or symptoms of peripheral neuropathy are unlikely to benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this could help clinicians diagnose WM-related neuropathy earlier and guide treatment decisions to reduce pain and disability.
How similar studies have performed: A few retrospective studies have reported heterogeneous clinical patterns and mechanisms, but prospective, systematic characterization like this is limited.
