Predicting colorectal cancer recurrence using portal vein blood analysis

A Predictive Model for Recurrence of Colorectal Cancer Based on Multi-omics of Portal Vein Blood: a Multi-center Study

What this trial studies

This multi-center study aims to develop a predictive model for colorectal cancer (CRC) recurrence and metastasis through multi-omics analysis of portal vein blood. It will include stage I-IV CRC patients and utilize a nested case-control study and a bidirectional cohort study design. Comprehensive sequencing will be performed on samples from primary tumors, adjacent tissues, normal intestinal tissues, portal vein blood, and peripheral blood to identify biomarkers associated with CRC recurrence. The ultimate goal is to enhance early prediction and intervention strategies for CRC patients post-surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 years or older with histologically confirmed stage I-IV colorectal cancer who can provide necessary blood and tissue samples.

Not a fit: Patients with a prior history of other malignancies or those who have received neoadjuvant therapy before surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more accurate method for predicting colorectal cancer recurrence, leading to timely interventions.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing multi-omics approaches for cancer prediction have shown promise, suggesting potential success for this novel application.
