This project will see how physiotherapists in Flemish nursing homes follow the IAGG-GARN physiotherapy guidelines and what helps or gets in the way.

What this trial studies
This observational project maps physiotherapy sessions and collects information from physiotherapists across multiple nursing homes in Flanders to measure adherence to the IAGG‑GARN guidelines. Data collection includes direct mapping of therapy session content and volume and exploration of therapist and resident characteristics. The design samples 3–5 centers in the provinces of Limburg, Antwerp, and Flemish Brabant to capture geographic and organizational variation. Researchers will also document reported barriers and facilitators to guideline-based practice among participating physiotherapists.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Licensed physiotherapists who currently work in a participating Flemish nursing home and are willing to have their sessions mapped and discuss practice are the ideal participants.
Not a fit: Residents who do not receive physiotherapy or who live outside the participating nursing homes are unlikely to gain direct benefit from this observational work.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could improve the consistency and quality of physiotherapy care for nursing home residents in Flanders by highlighting gaps and practical steps for better guideline use.
How similar studies have performed: Previous guideline-implementation projects in long-term care have shown mixed uptake and typically produced modest improvements when paired with targeted implementation support.
