Valvular Heart Disease Registry Focusing on Gender Differences

Valvular Heart Disease in Women Registry

Observational Valvular Heart Disease in Women Registry · NCT07196930

What this trial studies

This is a multicenter observational registry that will enroll adults admitted with any valvular heart disease as defined by current ESC guidelines and collect clinical, diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up data. Data will be gathered from the point of hospital admission (elective or urgent) through the first outpatient clinic visit to capture pathways of care and guideline adherence. The registry will analyze differences by gender in diagnosis, use of therapies, and early outcomes, without altering patient care. The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging is a listed collaborator, and participating sites include centers such as Aswan Heart Centre and the University of Lisbon.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 years or older with any valvular heart disease per current ESC guidelines who are admitted to a participating registry center and can provide informed consent are eligible.

Not a fit: People under 18, those unable to give informed consent, and patients not treated at participating centers are not eligible and are unlikely to receive direct benefit from this registry.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the registry could identify gaps in diagnosis and treatment that lead to more equitable, guideline-based care for patients with valvular heart disease.

How similar studies have performed: Previous valvular heart disease registries and cardiovascular databases have documented gender-based gaps in care, though dedicated multinational registries focused on women remain relatively limited.
