What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to compare a standard intradialytic exercise program with a personalized 'Move More' physical activity intervention for patients undergoing hemodialysis. The 'Move More' program focuses on individual preferences and encourages patients to engage in activities that are meaningful to them, thereby addressing barriers to physical activity. Participants will work one-on-one with healthcare providers to develop a tailored exercise plan that increases their physical activity levels over time. The study will assess the efficacy of this personalized approach in improving physical function and quality of life among hemodialysis patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who have been on chronic hemodialysis for at least three months and are cleared by their physician to participate.
Not a fit: Patients who are already engaging in more than 150 minutes of prescribed physical activity per week may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the physical function and quality of life for patients undergoing hemodialysis.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been various exercise programs for hemodialysis patients, this personalized approach is relatively novel and aims to address previously identified barriers to adherence and effectiveness.
