What this trial studies

This pilot intervention focuses on reducing the transmission of HIV and hepatitis C virus, as well as overdose risk behaviors among people who inject drugs (PWID). Participants will be randomized into groups receiving peer education and access to risk reduction materials in semi-public injection settings, alongside standard care. The intervention is grounded in social influence and cognitive theories, aiming to enhance communication about risk behaviors and improve social norms. By increasing the availability of risk reduction materials and promoting peer outreach, the study seeks to reduce the sharing of injection equipment and improve naloxone access.
