Panniculitis linked to dermatomyositis

Panniculitis in Dermatomyositis

Observational University Hospital, Strasbourg, France · NCT07345949

What this trial studies

This is an observational, descriptive project led by the Dermatology Service at CHU de Strasbourg that enrolls patients aged 1 year and older who have a confirmed diagnosis of dermatomyositis and confirmed panniculitis. Cases with an established alternative cause of panniculitis (for example infectious or metabolic) are excluded. Clinical information, skin and subcutaneous tissue histology, and treatment histories will be collected and compared to published descriptions of other panniculitis types, particularly lupus-associated panniculitis. The goal is to characterize patterns that might help clinicians distinguish panniculitis due to dermatomyositis from other causes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are people aged 1 year or older with a confirmed diagnosis of dermatomyositis and biopsy-confirmed panniculitis without another identified cause.

Not a fit: Patients whose panniculitis is proven to be due to another cause (for example infectious or metabolic) or those without dermatomyositis are unlikely to benefit from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians recognize panniculitis in dermatomyositis more reliably and inform treatment decisions.

How similar studies have performed: Panniculitis in dermatomyositis is rarely reported in the literature—mostly single case reports—and there are no validated diagnostic criteria or treatment trials for this presentation.
