What this trial studies
This observational project will gather experiences from adults with inflammatory arthritis, with or without current palliative care, using interviews or remote discussions to map needs and service use. Investigators will describe unmet needs across symptoms, daily functioning, and emotional wellbeing and explore how palliative and supportive care might address those gaps. Findings will be used to develop clinical and research recommendations to improve care pathways for people with inflammatory arthritis. The work focuses on translating patient and clinician perspectives into practical guidance rather than testing a specific medical treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (over 18) with a diagnosis of rheumatoid, psoriatic, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, or axial spondyloarthritis who can communicate in English (or via an interpreter) and have access to Microsoft Teams or telephone are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People with significant cognitive impairment that prevents communication or those who cannot access an interpreter or remote contact methods are unlikely to participate or benefit from this work.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the project could produce practical recommendations and clearer care pathways that improve symptom support and quality of life for people with inflammatory arthritis.
How similar studies have performed: There is limited prior research applying palliative care models specifically to inflammatory arthritis, though supportive palliative approaches have shown promise in other long-term conditions.
