What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the Alsace region of France, aiming to gather real-life data on patients with severe CKD. It seeks to identify patient characteristics and factors influencing the progression of CKD and its complications, which are crucial for improving management strategies before patients require dialysis or transplantation. The study includes adults aged 18 and older with a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of less than 30 ml/min/1.73 m² and who consent to data reuse for research purposes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with severe chronic kidney disease (stage 4 or non-dialysis stage 5).

Not a fit: Patients who have expressed opposition to participating in the study will not benefit from the findings.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the management and treatment of chronic kidney disease, potentially delaying the need for dialysis or transplantation.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies focusing on real-life data in chronic kidney disease have shown promise in improving patient management, indicating that this approach is both relevant and potentially beneficial.
