What this trial studies
The German Spondyloarthritis Inception Cohort (GESPIC) is a prospective, longitudinal study initiated in 2000 that focuses on patients with early spondyloarthritis, including ankylosing spondylitis and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis. The study aims to track the progression of the disease over time, assess outcomes such as radiographic changes, and identify predictors of these outcomes. Additionally, it evaluates the quality of life and associated costs for patients, expanding to include other related conditions like acute anterior uveitis and Crohn's disease. This multicenter study is conducted across various locations in Germany.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with axial spondyloarthritis, juvenile spondyloarthritis, Crohn's disease, acute anterior uveitis, or psoriatic arthritis with axial involvement.
Not a fit: Patients without a confirmed diagnosis of the specified conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of early spondyloarthritis and improve management strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies focusing on early spondyloarthritis have shown promise, indicating that this approach is supported by prior research.
