What this trial studies
This trial investigates the feasibility of two non-pharmacological interventions for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in college students. Participants will be randomized into three groups: one receiving standard care plus tai chi, another receiving standard care plus an exercise class, and a control group receiving standard care alone. The study aims to assess recruitment and retention rates, adherence to interventions, and changes in ADHD symptoms using various outcome measures over an 8-week period. The primary focus is on the reduction of inattention symptoms as measured by the Conners Adult ADHD Rating Scale.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a documented diagnosis of ADHD.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable or unwilling to participate in the interventions will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide effective non-pharmacological treatment options for managing ADHD symptoms in college students.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on exercise and ADHD, this specific approach combining tai chi and exercise in a college population is relatively novel.
