Monitoring chronic hepatitis B patients with fatty liver disease
Disease Progression and Clinical Outcomes in Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) Patients With Comorbid Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)
This study looks at how chronic hepatitis B affects people who also have fatty liver disease to see if having both conditions leads to more serious liver problems over time.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the progression of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in patients who also have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). It will compare disease outcomes in patients with both conditions against those with only CHB or NAFLD, focusing on complications such as liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Participants will be followed for more than 12 months to gather data on disease progression and related complications.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Chinese patients with liver biopsy-proven chronic hepatitis B and/or nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Not a fit: Patients with other liver diseases, alcohol abuse, or those who have liver cirrhosis or HCC at baseline may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the management and treatment of patients with concurrent chronic hepatitis B and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on chronic hepatitis B and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease separately, this specific combination approach is less common and may provide novel insights.
