What this trial studies
The GMEDICO Cohort aims to assess the cardiovascular prognosis of cancer patients through a collaborative effort between cardiologists and oncologists in France. Patients will be monitored for five years following a standardized protocol that includes clinical evaluations, biological assessments, and imaging studies. The study seeks to identify predictive factors for cardiovascular toxicity associated with cancer treatments and to develop a risk score based on these factors. Additionally, blood samples will be collected for biobanking and further research into biomarkers and genetic factors related to cardiovascular events.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults referred for cardio-oncology consultations prior to starting cancer treatment.
Not a fit: Patients who are minors, under guardianship, or pregnant/breastfeeding will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved cardiovascular management and outcomes for cancer patients undergoing treatment.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in similar approaches to monitoring cardiovascular health in cancer patients, indicating a promising avenue for further research.
