What this trial studies
This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a self-administered mobile application called the CARE app, designed to improve the quality of life for caregivers of patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT). Participants will be randomly assigned to either use the CARE app alongside usual care or receive only usual care. The study will last up to 100 days post-transplant and is expected to involve around 120 participants. The initiative is supported by funding from The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult caregivers of patients receiving allogeneic or autologous HCT for cancer treatment.
Not a fit: Caregivers of patients undergoing HCT for benign conditions or those with acute psychiatric issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly enhance the emotional and psychological well-being of caregivers, leading to better support for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While similar psychosocial interventions have shown promise, the specific use of a mobile app for this caregiver population is relatively novel.
