What this trial studies
This intervention aims to test the feasibility and acceptability of a mobile health application designed for Hispanic adolescents aged 12-18 who are overweight or obese. The app integrates a Bluetooth-enabled weight scale and utilizes smartphone accelerometer data to track physical activity, sleep, and diet. Participants will engage with the app over a 30-day period, allowing for self-monitoring and goal-setting to promote healthier lifestyle behaviors. The study will assess the effectiveness of this digital tool in managing obesity and preventing type 2 diabetes among this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Hispanic adolescents aged 12-18 with a BMI in the 85th-95th percentile who own an iPhone.
Not a fit: Patients currently enrolled in a health program or diagnosed with type 2 diabetes may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could lead to improved health outcomes and lifestyle changes for Hispanic adolescents at risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes.
