What this trial studies
This clinical trial involves a single-site, five-arm, parallel group randomized control design at the Huntsman Cancer Institute's Wellness Center. Patients will experience four different styles of 5-minute audio-recorded mindfulness practices, including Body Scan, Mindful Breathing, Mindfulness of Discomfort, and Mindful Savoring, compared to a control audio about integrative healthcare. The study aims to assess the impact of these mindfulness practices on anxiety, depression, pain, nausea, and fatigue among patients. A secondary analysis will identify the most effective mindfulness practice for those with elevated anxiety, depression, or pain.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older seeking treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute's Wellness Center.
Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments or unstable illnesses that interfere with study procedures may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could help reduce anxiety, depression, and pain in patients waiting for integrative healthcare.
