What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effects of a mindful walking program on cognitive health in older African American adults at risk for neuropsychological diseases. It is a randomized controlled trial comparing a group participating in 24 sessions of mindful walking with a delayed intervention group. The study aims to assess various health outcomes, including cognitive function, quality of life, and psychological well-being, over multiple follow-up periods. Participants will be evaluated at baseline, 12 weeks, 18 weeks, and 24 weeks to gather comprehensive data on the intervention's efficacy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are African American adults aged 60 and above who exhibit mild cognitive decline and are physically inactive.
Not a fit: Patients with a clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or other significant brain abnormalities will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could help sustain cognitive health and improve overall well-being in older African American adults.
How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific intervention targeting mindful walking in this demographic is novel and has not been extensively tested.
