What this trial studies

This observational study aims to measure the level of physical activity in participants diagnosed with neuromuscular disorders. Participants will wear a small device on their leg for one week every six months over a three-year period, alongside undergoing physical exams, a six-minute walk test, vital sign assessments, and questionnaires. The study seeks to gather valuable data on physical activity patterns, which can help clinicians better understand disease progression and patient health. By utilizing consumer wearables, the study aims to bridge the gap in physical activity monitoring for individuals with rare diseases.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with clinically or genetically confirmed neuromuscular disorders and control subjects without such conditions, aged one year and older.

Not a fit: Patients with conditions that may compromise their safety or compliance, as determined by the investigator, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide clinicians with a more accurate profile of disease progression in patients with neuromuscular disorders.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing similar wearable technology for monitoring physical activity in various populations have shown promising results, indicating potential for success in this approach.
