What this trial studies

The Tongji-Ezhou study is a prospective cohort study initiated in 2013 in Ezhou city, Hubei province, aiming to recruit and follow 10,000 individuals for at least 20 years. The study will collect blood samples from 6,000 participants every 3-5 years to analyze nutritional biomarkers and identify potential determinants of chronic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular diseases. This observational approach will help in understanding the long-term effects of dietary and environmental exposures on health outcomes.

Not a fit: Patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer or those with other severe diseases may not benefit from this study.

Inclusion Criteria:

* (i) permanent residence in Ezhou district (minimum of 9 months); (ii) written informed consent; (iii) age ≥ 20 years old at the time of enrolling in the study.

Exclusion Criteria:

* (i) with chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer and other severe diseases.
