Long-term follow-up for patients with migraine or medication-overuse headache after MRI scans
A Longitudinal Follow-up Study of the Patients With Medication-overuse Headache or Migraine That Completed Baseline MRI
Chinese PLA General Hospital · NCT05528081
This study is trying to see how migraine and medication-overuse headache patients feel over time after having MRI scans, focusing on their headaches, mental health, sleep, and daily life.

What this trial studies
This observational study involves phone interviews with patients diagnosed with migraine or medication-overuse headache who have completed baseline MRI scans. Participants will be assessed at 3, 12, and 24 months post-MRI to evaluate headache features, mental health, sleep quality, and functional disability. The goal is to identify brain signatures that may predict treatment outcomes and long-term effects of these conditions. The study is conducted by headache specialists at a dedicated headache center.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with migraine or medication-overuse headache who have completed baseline MRI scans and are willing to participate in follow-up phone interviews.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse or are unable to complete the phone interview will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of migraine and medication-overuse headache.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored MRI findings in migraine, this specific longitudinal approach focusing on functional and structural brain signatures is relatively novel.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * Participants who are diagnosed with migraine or MOH at baseline visit, signed the consent form, and completed MRI scans. * Participants who are willing to take the phone interview during follow-up. Exclusion Criteria: * Refuse or unable to complete the phone interview procedure during follow-up.
