What this trial studies

This observational project enrolls four cohorts—people with recent stage IV metastatic breast cancer who were never referred to, who cancelled, or who completed the Living Well With Advanced Breast Cancer (LWABC) program, and caregivers of ABC patients. Participants complete a survey and a semi-structured interview, and the team reviews medical history, treatment records, and demographic data. The study examines acceptability of the LWABC model and compares survivorship care engagement across cohorts. No experimental treatments are given; the study is non-interventional and focuses on patient experiences and care patterns.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults (age 18+) with stage IV metastatic breast cancer diagnosed within the past five years who fit one of three LWABC-related cohorts (never referred, cancelled an appointment, or completed the program), as well as caregivers of ABC patients, are the intended participants.

Not a fit: People who cannot provide informed consent, those who do not meet the cohort definitions, or those unable to connect with the study site are unlikely to gain direct benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could improve how supportive and survivorship services are offered to people living with metastatic breast cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Prior survivorship and supportive-care programs for metastatic breast cancer have generally shown positive but variable effects, so this work builds on existing approaches rather than introducing a wholly untested concept.
