What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of lifestyle modifications combined with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy on men suffering from obstructive sleep apnea, metabolic syndrome, and erectile dysfunction. Forty male participants will be randomly assigned to either a control group receiving only CPAP treatment or an intervention group receiving CPAP along with a structured lifestyle change program that includes exercise and dietary restrictions. The aim is to assess whether these lifestyle changes enhance the effectiveness of CPAP therapy in improving health outcomes. The study will last for 12 weeks, with participants monitored for improvements in their conditions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are men diagnosed with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, erectile dysfunction, and metabolic syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients with cardiac, psychiatric, autoimmune, or renal diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the health and quality of life for men suffering from these interconnected conditions.
How similar studies have performed: While lifestyle interventions in similar populations have shown promise, this specific combination of CPAP and lifestyle changes is relatively novel.
