Investigating the role of platelets in brain tumors
Observation of Platelets in Primary and Secondary Tumors of the Central Nervous System and Association With Survival: a Prospective Cohort Study
This study looks at how platelets might affect the growth and spread of brain tumors, especially gliomas, by collecting blood and tumor samples to better understand their interactions.

What this trial studies
This study examines the role of platelets in the progression of brain neoplasms, particularly gliomas. It focuses on understanding how platelets may influence tumor behavior, including metastasis and angiogenesis, through the collection of tumor tissue and blood samples. The research aims to clarify the interactions between platelets and tumor cells in solid tumors, contributing to the broader understanding of cancer biology. The study does not involve any therapeutic interventions but rather observational data collection.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who are scheduled for excision or biopsy of a brain or medullary tumor.
Not a fit: Patients with insufficient tumor sample volume for analysis or those under legal protection measures may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to new insights into the mechanisms of tumor progression and potential therapeutic targets for glioma treatment.
How similar studies have performed: While the role of platelets in cancer has been studied, this specific investigation into their function in brain tumors is relatively novel and not extensively tested.
