What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the prevalence and clinical characteristics of metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Jiangsu Province, China. It will utilize ultrasound attenuation parameters to non-invasively evaluate liver fat content and its correlation with insulin resistance. The study will involve measuring fasting blood glucose and insulin levels to better understand the relationship between T2DM and MAFLD. By identifying these correlations, the study seeks to enhance the understanding of how these conditions interact and affect patient outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus who meet the inclusion criteria and are willing to participate.

Not a fit: Patients with other types of diabetes or those unable to attend regular follow-ups may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved screening and management strategies for patients with type 2 diabetes and metabolic associated fatty liver disease.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the specific correlation between ultrasound attenuation parameters and insulin resistance in this context, similar studies have shown promising results in understanding the relationship between diabetes and fatty liver disease.
