What this trial studies
This observational study explores quality registry data from a national cohort of patients in Sweden who have undergone gallbladder surgery or ERCP. It aims to investigate the occurrence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and pain following these procedures. The study will analyze various patient and surgical factors to identify those associated with increased risks of PONV and pain. Data will be linked from the Swedish national registry for gallbladder surgery and the Swedish Perioperative Register, covering a significant number of surgeries performed between 2016 and 2025.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adult patients aged 18 and older who are undergoing primary gallstone surgery registered in the national quality registry.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone multiple surgeries or those not registered in the Gallriks registry may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for pain and nausea in patients undergoing gallbladder surgery.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using registry data to improve postoperative outcomes, making this approach both relevant and promising.
