Investigating immune responses in patients with Hepatitis B and C infections
Investigation and Elucidation of Host Immune Responses in Patients With Hepatitic B and C Virus Infection

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to analyze the immune responses of patients infected with Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) by collecting peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and serum samples. Through various immunological assays, the researchers will assess changes in the number and function of immune cells and explore how these changes relate to viral persistence and disease progression. The ultimate goal is to enhance understanding of the host immune response to inform the development of more effective treatment strategies for chronic hepatitis infections.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with chronic Hepatitis B or C, at any stage of infection, whether treatment naive or previously treated.
Not a fit: Patients with co-infections such as HIV or hepatitis delta, or those with excessive alcohol use or autoimmune liver diseases, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment regimens for patients with chronic Hepatitis B and C, potentially reducing disease progression and associated complications.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in understanding immune responses in chronic viral infections, suggesting that this approach may yield valuable insights.
