Investigating childhood obesity and adipose tissue dysfunction
Determinants of Adipose Tissue Development and Obesity in Children and Adolescents

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore how changes in adipose tissue biology contribute to obesity and related health issues in children and adolescents. Researchers will analyze adipose tissue samples from participants to identify mechanisms and molecular targets that lead to dysfunction. The study will assess various factors including tissue composition, inflammation, and metabolism, correlating these findings with clinical outcomes. The goal is to understand early alterations in adipose tissue that may predispose children to obesity.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children and adolescents with a body weight between 3000 g and 180 kg who can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients with severe chronic diseases, infections, or oncological conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to early interventions for childhood obesity and its associated health risks.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding adipose tissue dysfunction in adults, but this specific focus on childhood is relatively novel.
