What this trial studies
This study aims to improve cervical cancer screening and treatment among women living with HIV in Nigeria by integrating these services into existing HIV care programs. It employs a cluster randomized, hybrid type III trial design to compare the effectiveness of standard implementation strategies against enhanced strategies for cervical cancer care. The study seeks to address barriers to care and improve retention in treatment for women affected by both HIV and cervical cancer. By leveraging existing healthcare infrastructure, the study aims to enhance health outcomes for this vulnerable population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women living with HIV who are receiving antiretroviral therapy.
Not a fit: Patients who are not living with HIV or those who do not have access to HIV care services may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly reduce cervical cancer morbidity and mortality among women living with HIV in Nigeria.
How similar studies have performed: Previous pilot programs have shown that integrating cervical cancer interventions into HIV care is feasible, indicating potential for success in this larger study.
