What this trial studies
This study investigates the optimal insulin dosage to manage hyperglycemia that occurs after liver graft reperfusion during transplantation. It combines a retrospective analysis of historical data from liver transplant recipients with a prospective application of the proposed insulin dose to current patients. The primary focus is on measuring the effectiveness of insulin in reducing blood glucose levels and monitoring for any hypoglycemic events. The study aims to establish a standardized approach to glycemic control in liver transplantation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult liver transplant recipients who experience hyperglycemia after graft reperfusion.
Not a fit: Patients who are pediatric or do not exhibit hyperglycemia after liver graft reperfusion will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management of hyperglycemia during liver transplantation, enhancing patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited consensus on glycemic control during liver transplantation, this study's approach is novel and aims to fill a significant gap in existing guidelines.
