What this trial studies

This study focuses on individuals who have undergone lower limb amputation due to diabetes or vascular disease. It aims to assess the feasibility of a virtual, peer-led intervention called IMPACT-L3, designed to promote physical activity and behavior change among these individuals. The intervention addresses the challenges of low physical activity levels and limited access to rehabilitation services by utilizing technology and peer coaching. The pilot study will help optimize the design for a future effectiveness trial.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who have experienced dysvascular lower limb amputation and are living in the community.

Not a fit: Patients currently receiving rehabilitation services for physical activity or those with medical conditions preventing usual activity may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance the physical and mental health outcomes for individuals with lower limb amputation.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using peer coaching and technology to improve physical activity in similar populations, suggesting a potential for success in this approach.
