What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance primary care management of osteoporosis specifically for older women by engaging with both patients and healthcare professionals. The investigators will conduct ethnographic meta-analysis, in-depth interviews, and co-production workshops to gather insights and develop strategies that address the unique needs of this demographic. By synthesizing evidence from previous research and direct feedback from participants, the study seeks to create effective guidelines for osteoporosis care in primary settings. The focus is on empowering older women and healthcare providers to improve the quality of care they receive.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are community-dwelling women aged 70 and older who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis.

Not a fit: Patients who are under 70 years old, lack the capacity to consent, or reside in care homes may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved osteoporosis management and outcomes for older women, reducing fractures and associated healthcare costs.

How similar studies have performed: While there is existing literature on osteoporosis care, this approach of co-production with older women and healthcare professionals is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
