Improving management of anemia before surgery
Adherence to the Hospital Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Preoperative Anemia in Preanesthesia Assessment Center (SIPAC), Siriraj Hospital

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on the management of preoperative anemia in patients attending a preanesthesia clinic. It aims to evaluate the adherence to newly implemented guidelines designed to optimize red blood cell mass before elective surgeries. The study will assess the prevalence and causes of anemia among surgical patients, particularly focusing on those with chronic kidney disease and other underlying conditions. By identifying and managing anemia effectively, the study seeks to improve surgical outcomes and reduce complications associated with blood loss during surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients attending a preanesthesia clinic who have been diagnosed with anemia.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have anemia or are not scheduled for elective surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better surgical outcomes and reduced complications for patients with preoperative anemia.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that effective management of preoperative anemia can lead to improved outcomes, indicating that this approach has potential based on existing evidence.
