What this trial studies
This feasibility study aims to evaluate the implementation of a follow-up care program for individuals who have experienced a minor stroke. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, receiving personalized follow-up calls and appointments, or a control group. The study will assess recruitment uptake, treatment adherence, and participant retention, with outcome measures taken twelve weeks post-discharge. The approach is based on self-determination theory to enhance patient engagement and support.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who have been clinically diagnosed with a minor stroke and have the capacity to consent.
Not a fit: Patients with serious co-morbidities, insufficient English proficiency, or those not residing in England may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the quality of follow-up care and support for patients recovering from minor strokes.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies focusing on follow-up care for stroke patients have shown promising results in enhancing recovery outcomes.
