What this trial studies
This trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a modified integrated colorectal cancer screening system (MICRCSS) in Saudi Arabia. It focuses on encouraging at-risk populations to participate in screening through targeted messaging, single fecal immunochemical testing (FIT), and the clinical judgment of primary care physicians regarding referrals for colonoscopy. The study will compare the screening rates and follow-up outcomes of participants in the MICRCSS group against those receiving standard medical care. The outreach will involve contacting public government entities in the Hail region to promote participation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 40 to 75 who are at average risk for colorectal cancer.
Not a fit: Patients who are severely ill or outside the age range of 40 to 75 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly increase colorectal cancer screening rates and early detection of precancerous conditions in the target population.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar community outreach and targeted messaging approaches in increasing cancer screening rates.
