What this trial studies
This pilot study aims to identify and eliminate barriers to colorectal cancer screening by analyzing demographic data and screening patterns among populations aged 45 and older. The investigators will conduct focus groups with community health center staff and utilize electronic health records to assess current screening practices and resource needs. By understanding the disparities in screening initiation, the study seeks to inform strategies for expanding screening eligibility and improving health equity. The research will take place in four diverse community health centers in Massachusetts.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are community health center staff involved in colorectal cancer screening practices.
Not a fit: Patients who are not affiliated with the participating community health centers or who do not engage in colorectal cancer screening will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance access to colorectal cancer screening for underserved populations, potentially leading to earlier detection and improved outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using implementation science strategies to improve cancer screening rates, indicating that this approach has potential.
