Improving colonoscopy completion through teamwork and technology

IMProving Adherence to Colonoscopy Through Teams and Technology

NA · University of California, San Francisco · NCT06191185

What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance the completion rates of diagnostic colonoscopy following abnormal stool-based colorectal cancer screening results. It employs a multi-level approach that includes clinic-level interventions to promote best practices among healthcare providers, as well as patient-level technology interventions to improve navigation and understanding of the colonoscopy process. The study will evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions and explore the various factors that influence their outcomes, particularly in underserved populations. By addressing barriers at multiple levels, the study seeks to improve colorectal cancer screening adherence and ultimately reduce mortality rates.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have received an abnormal result from a fecal immunochemical test (FIT).

Not a fit: Patients with normal FIT results or those under 18 years of age will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly increase the rates of timely colonoscopy completion, leading to earlier detection and prevention of colorectal cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in improving screening adherence through multi-level interventions, indicating that this approach has potential for effectiveness.
