What this trial studies
This observational study aims to enhance the experience of children undergoing conventional X-ray examinations by mapping the procedure and assessing child-centered approaches. It will investigate how many images need to be retaken, the reasons for retakes, the time required for examinations, and the experiences of those involved. Additionally, the study will measure variations in heart rate to observe the physical impact of the procedure on children. Participants, including children and their parents, will complete questionnaires to provide insights into their experiences.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 4-12 years who are scheduled to undergo standard X-ray examinations.
Not a fit: Children with cognitive or language difficulties, as well as their parents, may not benefit from this study due to challenges in participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved protocols for X-ray examinations, reducing the need for retakes and minimizing radiation exposure for children.
How similar studies have performed: While this study explores a specific aspect of pediatric X-ray examinations, similar studies have shown success in improving patient experiences and outcomes in medical imaging.
