What this trial studies
The Cirrhosis Care Alberta program is a three-year initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of care for patients with liver cirrhosis. This program addresses the high rates of hospital readmissions by implementing a comprehensive care bundle that includes evidence-based management, patient and caregiver education, and provider training. By coordinating care across multiple providers and focusing on the complex needs of these patients, the initiative seeks to reduce acute care utilization and improve overall patient satisfaction. The program will also facilitate better transitions between hospital and home settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this program are adults over 18 years old with a clinical diagnosis of cirrhosis.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have a diagnosis of cirrhosis will not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly improve the quality of life and health outcomes for patients with cirrhosis.
How similar studies have performed: This approach is novel and has not been tested in this specific format, although similar quality improvement initiatives have shown promise in other settings.
