Impact of Preoperative Exercise on Knee Recovery After ACL Surgery
Effect of Preoperative Exercise Habits on Knee Function and Recurrence Rate After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
Peking University Third Hospital · NCT06608394
This study looks at whether exercising before and after ACL surgery helps younger patients recover better and have fewer problems with their knee over time.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to compare knee function between patients with preoperative exercise habits and those without, at 1, 2, and 5 years following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery. It will analyze how maintaining exercise habits post-surgery affects knee function and recurrence rates. The study involves a cohort of patients aged 18-45 with confirmed ACL injuries, who will be followed over time to assess their recovery and exercise levels through questionnaires. Participants will be categorized based on their exercise habits before and after surgery to evaluate the outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 18-45 with confirmed ACL injuries scheduled for reconstruction surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with severe knee disorders or prior knee surgeries may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the importance of preoperative exercise in improving recovery outcomes for ACL surgery patients.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored the impact of exercise on recovery, this specific focus on preoperative habits in ACL reconstruction is relatively novel.
