What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) among primary school children in Flemish schools and explore how these symptoms relate to their well-being in the school environment. It will also investigate the influence of co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders on these symptoms. Data will be collected through questionnaires filled out by children, parents, and teachers to gather insights on LUTS, developmental coordination, and perceptions regarding children's toilet use and hydration habits. The findings could help identify the extent of LUTS and its impact on children's daily lives.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include children in 4th to 6th grade attending regular primary education who can speak and understand Dutch.

Not a fit: Patients who are high school students, home-schooled, or attending special needs education may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of LUTS in children, enhancing their quality of life and school performance.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on LUTS in children exist, this specific observational approach focusing on the school environment and neurodevelopmental disorders is relatively novel.
