What this trial studies
This observational case-control study aims to identify modifiable risk factors associated with colorectal and breast cancer in Nigeria. Participants will include 400 patients with confirmed diagnoses of these cancers and 400 controls without cancer or gastrointestinal diseases. Both groups will complete a risk factor questionnaire covering diet, physical activity, medical history, and lifestyle factors, and will undergo body composition analysis using a bioimpedance machine. The study seeks to uncover insights that could lead to preventive strategies against these cancers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with a confirmed diagnosis of colorectal or breast cancer for the case group, and healthy individuals without cancer for the control group.
Not a fit: Patients with other types of cancer or those with gastrointestinal diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify lifestyle changes that may reduce the risk of colorectal and breast cancer in the Nigerian population.
How similar studies have performed: Similar studies have successfully identified risk factors for various cancers, suggesting that this approach could yield valuable insights.
