How full-arch dental implants affect oral health quality of life
Changes in Oral Health-related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) During Full Arch Implant Treatment: A Prospective Study
This study will test whether full-arch implant-supported prostheses improve oral health-related quality of life and satisfaction for people who are missing most or all teeth.

What this trial studies
This is a prospective observational cohort following patients receiving immediate full-arch implant-supported rehabilitation with 4, 6, or 8 implants per arch and screw-retained acrylic provisional prostheses followed by definitive prostheses after 3–6 months. Patient-reported outcomes will be measured at five time points using OHIP-14 and PIDAQ to track changes from baseline through one month after definitive prosthesis delivery. The study will compare outcomes by arch (maxilla versus mandible), by provisional versus definitive stages, and by definitive prosthetic material (monolithic zirconia, veneered zirconia, or hybrid prosthesis). Data will describe trajectories of oral-health quality of life and patient satisfaction over the course of treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: People who are systemically healthy, have an indication for full-arch implant rehabilitation in the maxilla or mandible, and can undergo implant surgery are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: Patients with medical contraindications to implant therapy, insufficient local anatomy for implants without major grafting, or who do not require full-arch rehabilitation are unlikely to benefit from this protocol.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians choose prosthesis types and timing that lead to better daily function and satisfaction for patients missing teeth.
How similar studies have performed: Prior work shows high long-term implant survival and improved short-term patient satisfaction with full-arch implants, but long-term effects on oral-health quality of life and differences by prosthetic material are less well documented.
